Since the birth of Britney Spears second child, the one time pop star has seemingly hit rock bottom. She has decided to divorce her husband Kevin Federline, which at the time was heralded as a good thing, and then hit the party circuit like a pop-tart possessed. She wound up without pants in Las Vegas, without panties in Malibu and without hair in the valley. While many believed that the one-time beautiful singer may have been abusing drugs and alcohol, AOL entertainment web site TMZ.Com claims there may be another answer to Brit’s erratic behavior.

| Britney Spears Erratic Behavior From Postpartum Depression |
The website reports it has learned Britney Spears’ troubles may have little to do with substance abuse. Sources say doctors at her rehab facility think the underlying reason for her trouble may be post-partum depression. Sources spill that Britney’s doctors have two operating theories — either that she suffers from post-partum depression or bipolar disorder. The doctors strongly believe post-partum is the problem.

As for substance abuse, as one source says, "No doubt about it - she likes to drink." But doctors believe the drinking is a way Spears has coped with a bigger problem.
According to the online report, Britney, who is sticking it out at the Promises rehab facility in Malibu, is currently reading Brooke Shields’ book, "Down Came the Rain," in which Shields reveals her battle with post-partum depression.
Also - doctors say they believe Spears’ problem is complicated by an intense feeling on her part that she has lost control of her life.

Certainly she needs help, and it would not be surprising if postpartum depression brought out the behavior that so many have mocked and lampooned. TMZ asks here ‘Do you feel sorry for Britney?’
